An interpretative study of the inherent dignity of man in the physical dimension from the perspective of the Holy Quran

This article examines the inherent dignity of man in the physical dimension from the perspective of the Holy Quran. The main issue of this research is to answer the question of whether the inherent dignity of man also refers to his physical dimension or not. This understanding can have a significant impact on explaining the place of man in the system of creation. The present study, using a library study method and an analytical-interpretive problem-solving method with the application of thematic interpretation, analyzes the reasons for the denial of inherent dignity in the physical dimension and the evidence to prove this point of view. The attribution of the term "the best of creators" to Allah Almighty, being man prostrated for him after the breath of life is breathed into him, and the fact that the physical characteristics of dignity are not universal are among the reasons for denying the inherent dignity of man in the physical dimension. In contrast, those who affirm the inherent dignity of man in the physical dimension used evidence such as a beautiful form and structure, balance in composition, and the distinctiveness of some human senses and organs compared to other animals, which was criticized and analyzed. In this regard, interpretive narrations regarding physical dignity are examined and their documentary and conceptual strength is assessed. The article ultimately concludes that Quranic and narrational evidence attributes the inherent dignity of man to his spiritual and intellectual characteristics, and attributing this dignity to the physical dimension faces numerous problems. |
