Mohammadali Rezaie Esfahani, Sedigh Hoseini,
Volume 5, Issue 19 (10-2014)
Abstract

In verse 70 of Al-Israa, the Holy Quran has stipulated on human rank, dignity, esteem and his superiority to the rest of the creatures. Based on the mentioned verse and commentators' viewpoints, the paper seeks to analyze the meaning of human dignity and how this verse signifies superiority of human to angels. Human being has been, even physiologically, of such a position that one may not find in any other creature and, as is understood, it shows God`s particular attention to human, the advantage all human beings enjoy it innately. Analyzing the verses concerning this topic indicates that human being has two types of dignity; one is innate and the other acquisitive; the former being enjoyed by one`s creational development and special talents and the latter being achieved by human will and attempt. By the latter one may surpass angels.

Samad Behrouz, Mohammadali Rezaei Esfahani,
Volume 7, Issue 26 (7-2016)
Abstract

In the verse of Keramat, the Holy Quran mentions that all human beings have a description of specific keramt (dignity). In a superficial look, this verse is in conflict with other verses of the Quran such as: Ibrahim/ 34, Al-Ma’arij/ 19-21, Al-Alaq/ 6-7, Al-Ahzab/ 72, Al-Qiyamah/ 5, Al-Asr/1-2, and Al-A`araf/ 179. Various viewpoints have been proposed by commentators to resolve this conflict. Faith, human education, pureness of nature, correct application of the instincts, lack of contentment in regard to creation, distinguishing the initial Keramat from final rascality and also actualizing the positive aspects of human life are taken into account as criteria of Keramat within these viewpoints. This paper emphasizes that human dignity refers to the type of his creation which has been bestowed to him with special capacities, talents, and abilities. Accordingly, human dignity is based on these unique features of human creation among divine creatures and reprobating human in some of the verses is because of inappropriate usage of these blessings.

Majid Ma`aref, Akram Montazeri,
Volume 9, Issue 36 (1-2019)
Abstract

The Quranic verses emphasize the inherent dignity of human being; some of them directly emphasize this purpose, while others, reveal it indirectly. In this regard, the prophet of Islam (s) also considers his prophecy to be for completing those ethical values rooted in human being. There are, however, other verses in the Qur'an which refer to the negative qualities of humans and rebuke humans. At first, these verses seem to be against human dignity. Of course, understanding the implications of these verses as carrying a negative attitude toward human dignity regardless of the first verses, leads to an incomplete and incorrect understanding of human recognition in the Qur'an. This paper seeks to attain the purposes of these verses and finally lead to a better understanding of these verses as being a ground for human`s moral growth.

Ali Karimian,

Abstract

The Verse 70 of Surah Isra is one of the verses that Allameh Tabatabai has paid attention to in terms of cosmology. Considering that the starting point for the discussions of cosmology is mainly philosophy and the Qur'an and Revelation also have special bases in this field, regarding their interpretive logic in the interpretation of the verse of human dignity, there are questions related to what is the basis of their interpretation of this verse and the extent of its conformity with The logic governing the Qur'an and the exegeticness or hermeneuticness of the material presented by him are discussed. Allameh believes that this verse was revealed to compare the beings of the material world, to rank them and finally, to prove the superiority of man over other material beings due to the possession of reason. He considered reason to be the fundamental part of man's essence and nature, distinguishing him from other beings, and he believes that this characteristic causes man to conquer his surroundings and to be the creator of words and art. The present research has tried to express considerations and reflections on his opinions with the method of content analysis, which are generally taken from his point of view while interpreting other verses. This article claims that the origin of the criticisms and considerations is the dominance of peripatetic philosophical opinions on misleading interpretations regarding the topics of cosmolology and the acceptance of these opinions regarding the powers and essences of human souls and their ranking in Allameh's interpretation of the verse of human dignity.
