Quranic Meaning of the Throne with an Analysis of Commentators` Views

Quranic meaning of the throne, arsh, has always attracted the attention of many scholars in the field. The question lies in the verses referring clearly to the throne and Divine mounting the throne and the problems pertaining to it. The subject has motivated religious scholars, specially those studying in the field of Quran, and, in this way, various views of the throne have been appeared. It has been intended in this paper to study the whatness of the throne as well as the problems pertaining to it as may be understood by the Quranic verses at first and then, to explain the most considerable views in the field. Of five views given on the throne, the fifth, in addition to its being methodical and comprehensive, regarding the outward meaning of the verses and avoiding any arbitrary meaning, has sought to give a clear commentary on the verses pertaining to the subject. As is understood by the paper, the throne has been Quranicly meant as the real centre therein all affairs, with their multiplicity and differences, regulate and issue in the world of creation.
