Abstract:   (162 Views)
The Holy Quran, as the fundamental text of Islam, is not merely a collection of rulings and beliefs; rather, it is a purposeful system for human guidance and upbringing. In this educational system, various groups are addressed with specific titles, one of the most prominent being is the “Muhsinin” (the doers of good). This study, using a descriptive-analytical approach, compares the two divine traditions of “Love” (Hubb) and “Companionship” (Ma’iyyah) at the End of Quranic verses. The analyses are conducted in connection with the endings of verses related to the “Muhsinin,” based on contextual studies and John Searle’s speech act theory. The aim is to discover the functional similarities and differences between these two traditions in various Quranic contexts. By carefully analyzing paradigmatic relations and speech acts, the present study provides a model of the interaction between language and theology in the Quran. It demonstrates that the choice of verses endings is a function of the situational context and the communicative purpose of the verse, and that the type of righteous deed, historical circumstances, or psychological state and needs of the audience influence its application. Findings indicate that endings based on “Divine Love” predominantly appear in the form of Emotional and Exhortative acts and are used in contexts that invite the audience to righteous deeds. In contrast, “Divine Companionship” endings are mostly presented in the form of manifestative and declarative acts and are applied in contexts facing challenges of faith, patience, and perseverance. This distinction is not only significant from a linguistic perspective but also entails important exegetical and educational implications.
